As part of the commitment of the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University to supporting student activities, the Students’ Union, in cooperation with the Youth Welfare Administration, organized an educational and recreational trip for faculty students to Siwa Oasis during January 2025. The trip was held under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Amr Shaat, Dean of the Faculty; Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; and Associate Prof. Ahmed Abdelhamid, Student Activities Coordinator.
The program included a visit to one of the local textile factories, where students learned about the stages of production and the traditional handicrafts for which the oasis is well known. The visit also covered a number of prominent archaeological and tourist landmarks, including the Temple of Amun, associated with the coronation of Alexander the Great, as well as Gebel El-Dakrour, the Mountain of the Dead, Shali Fortress, Cleopatra’s Spring, and the salt lakes.
The trip featured a variety of recreational activities, including safari tours in the Great Sand Sea, sandboarding, and visits to natural springs, in addition to enjoying the Bedouin atmosphere and the authentic Siwan heritage. The visit concluded with a tour of Shali Market, where students purchased local products and souvenirs.
The Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University confirms its continued support for such activities, which contribute to providing a well-rounded university experience both inside and outside the classroom.
