Dean of Ain Shams Engineering on Ma'akum: Our Students Have Raised Egypt's Name Globally, and Knowledge Transfer Is the Secret Behind Their Excellence
Celebrating Ain Shams Engineering Students on "Ma'akum"
TV host Mona El Shazly, during her program "Ma'akum" on ON TV, celebrated the achievements of students from the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University, along with several faculty members, following their success in winning multiple international awards in global competitions in the fields of autonomous vehicles, earthquake engineering, and wind turbines. The episode was attended by around 70 students.
Dr. Amr Shaat, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University, emphasized that the faculty continues to achieve accomplishments worthy of pride, noting that Egyptian students possess exceptional capabilities that deserve every form of support. He added that the faculty is committed to fostering a culture of knowledge transfer between different generations of students, helping them develop their skills and gain valuable practical experience.
Academic Support and Industry Partnerships
The Dean explained that the university provides a supportive environment for students participating in international competitions by offering flexibility in academic and examination schedules, as well as providing the necessary support for their projects. He also announced that the winning teams will be honored during the next Faculty Council meeting.
He further noted that one of the most remarkable aspects of the students' experience is their ability to communicate with companies and convince them to support their ideas and projects, reflecting their strong innovation, entrepreneurship, and scientific excellence.
Innovative Projects and International Awards
Student Karim Khaled stated that his team secured first place in one of the competitions. Meanwhile, student Habiba Alaa explained that her team won four international awards and ranked among the top ten projects. Their project focuses on designing earthquake-resistant buildings that combine structural safety with outstanding architectural design.
Student Yomna Gamal highlighted that self-confidence and determination were the keys to achieving first place. Student Raphael Maged revealed that his team developed an autonomous vehicle project, noting that the university's support played a significant role in initiating the manufacturing of their first electric vehicle. He added that the electrical system represents the most technically challenging part of the project.
Another student also presented a project that applies artificial intelligence technologies in Formula 1 racing, which won second place. Student Mariam Eissa explained that the university provided specialized laboratories to test the team's wind turbine project, contributing to improved design efficiency and outstanding performance in international competitions.
