The Department of Public Works is one of the oldest departments in the Faculty of Engineering-Ain Shams University, and indeed is one of the oldest in this specialty in Egyptian universities. It is the heart of public utilities and infrastructure development programs in urban and rural areas. Utilities and Infrastructure engineering deals with providing effective, efficient and sustainable public infrastructure and aims to provide well educated civil engineers with special expertise in sustainable utilities and infrastructure planning and management, surveying, water and wastewater networks, water and wastewater treatment, solid waste management, highway and airport, transportation, traffic and railways.
