To reach our academic outcomes, students must be cared physically, mentally, and emotionally, and have a sense of wellbeing within their community. Previous studies accentuate the importance of the “biopsychosocial model of care”. Diseases involve more than just biomedical causes; it may underly psychosocial components as big factors too. Our biological, psychological, and social states are interdependent. What affects the body affects the mind, and vice versa. The best way to treat someone with a mood disorder, like anxiety or depression, is to address the whole person and restore their physical, mental, emotional, and social balance. Therefore, the existence of wellness outreach program in higher education facilities is highly crucial to work with students moving from a more intimate environment (their schools) to a more public experience where huge campuses, a different style of academia, high traffic, diversity, relation network and complexity exist.
This program aims at supporting comprehensive information, resources, and practices. Program does not only target the struggling students, but it is a program for ALL. Wellness program encompasses a wider meaning of health, reflecting a positive state of balance between the three main pillars of a person: mind, body, spirit/emotions. We promote this goal of wellness in the FoE-ASU community through the wellness program that tackles students’ well-roundedness.
